This free contest is organized by Federation Handicap International (operating in Vietnam under its brand name Humanity & Inclusion), hereafter referred to as HI and residing Room 101, E3 Trung Tu Diplomatic Compound, N6 Dang Van Ngu, Dong Da, Ha Noi, Viet Nam.
This contest is open to all, with the exception of HI staff.
Article 2: Purpose
This contest rewards inventions that aim at improving independence, inclusion and participation of people with disabilities or special needs and that were made by any individual or a group (members of the family, loved ones, helping professionals, educators, therapists, nurses, students, DIY enthusiasts, makers, individuals or groups united in an association, wanting to give others the benefit of their talents, know-how, etc.). Inventions that were made the intention of being sold are excluded.
Examples: creation or adaptation of objects facilitating autonomy during daily life activities (washing, sleeping, moving, seeing, hearing, communicating…), so that they are more accessible, usable, comfortable and/or pleasant to use.
The purpose of this contest is the dissemination of the inventions to those interested in use in a private circle and for non-profit purpose.
Article 3: How to participate?
To participate in this contest, you must register your application form on this website or send it to the email address dedicated: firstname.lastname@example.org
or send it by post to the following address: Room 101, E3 Trung Tu Diplomatic Compound, N6 Dang Van Ngu, Dong Da, Ha Noi, Viet Nam.
Whether you are a Vietnamese citizen or not, you can participate but you must have created your invention in Vietnam
Each application form must include the following information, in order to be validated:
Category: professional or non-professional
Participant’s contact details
Short presentation of the inventor and beneficiary(ies)
Main purpose of the invention, how it helps?
Photo(s) of the production
Option: video of the use and/or sketch of the production
If participants wish to add videos to their application, they must contact the competition management team by email (indicated on the contest website) who will tell them how to proceed.
All applications forms must be registered before Sep 1, 2020. An email acknowledging receipt of the file will be sent in the week following its receipt.
Article 4: How to be selected?
The innovative aspect of the invention/adaptation and how it adapts to the particular needs of a person with disabilities will be taken into account when selecting applicants.
The jury will be made up of 2 Professionals and members of the contest organizers (1 staff member of HI and 1 representative of USAID) and partners (1 member per partner: MCNV, ACDC, JICA).
The jury will take into account the quality of the project provided and particularly the way it improves the person’s comfort in her/his daily life, the innovative aspects of the project, its estimated cost, its reliability, the security aspects, and the easiness of reproduction.
At the end of the application phase, a selection will be made by the jury, after which 6 winners will be chosen, 3 for the “professional” category and 3 for the “non-professional” category and will each be rewarded by a “jury prize” (1st, 2nd, 3rd prize of the jury).
Article 5: Public vote
Applications will be submitted to a public vote as soon as they are published vote page on the website . The public vote is available until September 6, 2020. The public will be able to vote on the competition website.
The public can only vote once per invention. However, the public can vote for several inventions if they wish.
If cheating, fraud or attempts of this type are detected, the contest organizers reserve the right to cancel this public vote, which will not be able to assign a winner.
Article 6: Awards
3 winners will be selected by the jury for the “professional” category and 3 winners for the “non-professional” category and 1 by the public:
– 1st prize of the jury for the “professional” category: a voucher of 7.000.000 VND to use at Dien May Xanh
– 2nd prize of the jury for the “professional” category: a voucher of 5.000.000 VND to use at Dien May Xanh
– 3rd prize of the jury for the “professional” category: a voucher of 4.000.000 VND to use at Dien May Xanh
-1st prize of the jury for the “non-professional” category: a voucher of 7.000.000 VND to use at Dien May Xanh
-2nd prize of the jury for the “non-professional” category: a voucher of 5.000.000 VND to use at Dien May Xanh
-3rd prize of the jury for the “non-professional” category: a voucher of 4.000.000 VND to use at Dien May Xanh
– public prize: a voucher of 7.000.000 VND to use at Dien May Xanh
– The jury reserves the right to award “encouragement prizes” to a couple of additional projects that did not received jury prizes. They will be rewarded with a voucher of 500,000 VND to use at Dien May Xanh
Only one prize will be awarded per winner.
The invention rewarded by the public vote may not be rewarded a second time by the jury. Once the invention has been awarded a public vote, will, therefore, not be reviewed by the jury.
Article 7: How to use the voucher?
To use your voucher, 2 solutions will be offered to the winners:
– Either he uses his voucher himself in a Dien May Xanh store
– Or, for some reason, he cannot go to one of the stores, then, he can ask for help from the HI staff. The winner will communicate what he would like to buy (checking on their website for example) with his voucher and someone from HI staff will manage the purchase and shipment of purchases with the store.
However, HI staff cannot be held responsible if the item(s) sent to the winner are lost or broken during delivery.
Article 8: Announcement and prizes presentation
The announcement of the winners of the jury prize will take place on September 15, 2020 on the contest website and on the Facebook page, after informing the winners by email.
The winner of the public award will be announced on August 16 on the contest website and on the Facebook page, after informing the winners by email.
Article 9: Use of sketches and photos
The participants to the contest authorize the organizers and partners to publish, distribute, in any medium whatsoever and in particular on the partners’ websites and on the contest’s Facebook page, but always for non-profit purposes, all the documents in the file (sketches, photos…) thus collected, this distribution being able to allow anyone to carry out in turn the inventions.
The organizers will not be hold responsible if one of the submitted project/device is later on commercialized by an external company/business against the will of the creator.
It is therefore up to the creators to take necessary measures to protect their invention, if they wish (patent).
Participants of the contest certify that the project presented has been designed by themselves. The inventions developed jointly with a third person can be retained on the condition that it is a real cooperation (not for profit) in the design of the project. In this case, the different authors and their respective roles must be expressly and specifically mentioned in the application form.
The organizers and partners cannot be held responsible if for reasons beyond their control, the contest should be wholly or partially postponed, modified or canceled.
Participation in this contest implies full acceptance of these rules.
The present regulations are accessible to all on the contest website and upon request to the organizers (HI).
